What Is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that arranges your living space to harmonize with the flow of chi (energy). The goal is to create an environment that supports health, wealth, and happiness.
The Bagua Map: Your Energy Blueprint
The Bagua map divides your home into nine areas, each corresponding to a life aspect:
| Area | Element | Color | Life Aspect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wealth | Wood | Purple, Green | Abundance |
| Fame | Fire | Red | Reputation |
| Love | Earth | Pink, Red | Relationships |
| Family | Wood | Green, Blue | Health, Family |
| Center | Earth | Yellow | Health |
| Creativity | Metal | White, Pastel | Children, Creativity |
| Knowledge | Earth | Blue, Black | Wisdom |
| Career | Water | Black, Blue | Life Path |
| Helpful People | Metal | White, Gray | Travel, Helpers |
How to Apply the Bagua Map
Stand at your front door facing inward. The far left corner is your Wealth area. The far right corner is your Helpful People area. Map the Bagua grid over your floor plan to identify which rooms correspond to which life areas.
Top 5 Beginner Mistakes
- Clutter: Blocked energy flows. Clear clutter before adding Feng Shui cures.
- Bed facing the door: The "coffin position" — reposition so you can see the door but aren't directly in line with it.
- Mirrors facing the bed: Reflect energy away from you while sleeping.
- Leaky faucets: Water represents wealth — leaks drain your money.
- Dying plants: Remove dead or dying plants immediately; they carry negative chi.
Start simple: clear clutter, fix leaks, and position your bed in the command position. These three changes alone can transform your space.
